Behind The Scenes

This behind the scenes short film by Sophia Coppola just reminds me why I love her so much.  This look at the making of the Miss Dior Cherie perfume starring Natalie Portman captures a feeling that I think the final commercial was missing.

I know the posts have been a bit slim lately but there is this little girl who keeps enticing me with games of uno, afternoon swims, and trips for ice cream - how can I resist.

Don't Worry Baby, It's Friday.

Summer is my favorite time of year. I look forward to it mostly because things seem to slow down a bit. This weekend looks promising -  filled with surfing, lazy afternoons, cool breezes, and maybe even cupcake making.

Punky has two new boards on loan for the summer that she is itching to try out so it looks like a majority of our weekend will be spent on the beach, no complaints coming from me.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!!

Singing La La La La La.

Hope you all had a wonderful week and have a relaxing fun filled weekend planned. We are heading to see Wicked with Punky tomorrow. I am super excited as I have heard great things about it and well it will allow me to check another item off my March list.

Today's music is from Rabbit! Their music is sugary sweet and the entire album makes me happy. Anytime you can get "You look stinkin' foxy" in some lyrics count me in. Enjoy!!

Soundtrack of My Life.

Happy Friday Friends!! I have had Mumford & Sons on repeat for the past two weeks. I think that if my life were a movie this would probably make up a majority of the soundtrack along with some upbeat teen pop thrown in for good measure. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

What Day Is It?

Talk about a crazy busy week, ahhh. I woke up this morning and couldn't believe it was Friday already, can't decide if this a good thing or a bad thing.

Today's music goodness is courtesy of Jenny Lewis. As if that was awesome enough you throw in a little Elvis Costello and Zooey Deschanel and you have a toe tappin', hooray it's Friday, crank up the music good time.

Do you all have big Super Bowl weekend plans? I am hoping to catch up on things over the weekend and I may or may not be spending the big game in my pajama's on my couch eating food that is not good for me, but oh so delicious.

Watch Me.

I have recently been on a bit of a short film kick lately and I wanted to share two of my recent favorites with you. I can't keep from watching them over and over and well you get the point.

First up is a short film that was produced for Kate Spade by King Burza. I am a huge Kate Spade fan and this film only increases my admiration for the brand. They are always spot on (in my opinion) with their copy, design and styling. Bonus: I would love to have those rings she is wearing in this film.

The second short film was made for the EF Language School. They produced one for London, Paris, Bejing and Barcelona. I love the use of type throughout. It also makes me want to pack my bags and hop on a plane. We were suppose to head over to London last year, but our flight was canceled due to the volcano that was going off and shut down most European travel last spring - true story. Maybe this year will be my year to head across the pond.

Here is a pic I snapped last year at the airport, it quickly became one of my favorites simply because our original flight to London was listed directly above our new flight to Hawaii. When life hands you lemons, go to Hawaii!

Hey Joni, What's Your Sign?

Images Via: Caroline in the City
All of this Zodiac sign changing  business that has been the talk of the town lately has allowed me to discover two very important things about myself.

The first being that I am utterly confused by the entire thing. One article says your sign has changed, another says it only changes if you were born after a particular year, another says it only changes if you stand on your head every fourth full moon (OK I made that one up). I figure that I am glad I never have been one to follow horoscopes and that I have always identified with the Virgo sign so I think I will keep it. So take that Parke Kunkle

My second discovery is that I am kinda psychic. Just a few days ago (before all this hoopla started-see psychic I tell ya) I bookmarked these gorgeous images over at Caroline in the City that were shot for Vogue UK. Aren't they gorgeous? If you want to see the remaining signs head on over here and take a peek, they all are simply gorgeous, but these were my favorites.

Also since you know I like to start of the weekend with a song I thought I would share some classic Joni Mitchell, her talent never ceases to amaze me - Enjoy!!

Color Inspiration: The Notebook

It has been a long time since I have posted a color palette that was inspired/influenced by a film so ta-da.

I am going to be honest here and say that I have never seen the Notebook but the screenshots that I have collected from this film are truly lovely. Everything from the costumes to the locations are dreamy and romantic, plus THAT kiss in the rain (I have seen that part).

I often like to combine images (as many of you already know) to reinforce what it is that I am seeing that draws me in and evokes some sort of emotional response. This textile design from William Morris seemed to be a perfect example of how well these colors play off of one another. What do you think?

And while we are the subject of the Notebook, this has to be the best award acceptance EVER...

Cloudy with a Chance of Pancakes.

OK so I know that is not exactly how the story goes but it sounds pretty good to me. Currently we are experiencing some extreme weather changes here in my neck of the woods. You may recall this time last week I was dreaming of wearing this and now it is cold and rainy and I am thinking maybe I should have unpacked my sweaters.

I don't know about you but chilly weather makes me want to head into the kitchen and cook up treats. I was thinking we should have something super fun and cozy for dinner, something like PANCAKES, who doesn't love breakfast for dinner, right?! So I headed over to Google to see if I could find a new recipe that looked yummy and exciting to try and look what I found...

Eek!! How awesome are these? Jim is a dad "just trying to make some cool pancakes for his daughter", or so he says, but I think these are much more than just some cool pancakes. I am now left with some serious pancake envy and my once awesome purse shape pancake mold from Williams Sonoma looks a bit sad.

And just in case you feel truly inspired and want to try out some pancake art of your own he has some great how to videos over on you tube, the one below is for the turtle shaped pancake. Or you can check him out at Jim's Pancakes.
